“Today’s program shows
very well what has been Cliff Korman’s work of the past
twenty years: a well-tempered blend of Brazilian music and
Jazz. Please welcome to the stage this American pianist who is
also genuinely Brazilian.”
From the presentation of Cliff
Korman’s concert at the Sala Villa Lobos, Teatro
Nacional, Brasília
This project developed over the course of
three residences of Korman in the city of Brasília where
he was invited to teach a summer music seminar at the Escola de
Música.
The school represents a unique experiment
that ranges from primary to continuing musical education, and
offers opportunities for students of all levels, backgrounds
and financial possibilities.
Korman became very involved in the school
staff’s exploration of an integrated curriculum of
classical and popular music, a project that strongly reflects
the atmosphere and the concept that stand behind the creation
of Brasília. In addition he had the opportunity of of
working with the other resident musicians on a music
presentation of music of his own and of other Brazilian and
North American composers that took place at the Teatro
Nacional.
The band included:
Daniel Alcântara on trumpet
Ademir Júnior on sax
Lula Galvão on guitar

Erivelton Silva on drums
Silvia Passaroto on harp
The repertoire was comprised of:
