Hornados
Traveling between Rio de Janeiro and New York, interpreted by different formations and sensibilities, Korman’s project has evolved from being a trading ground between Luso-Brazilian syncopated melodies and hard-edged jazz, into being a very personal elaboration of the profound changes occurring on both sides of the continent.
Over the course of twenty years Cliff Korman’s commute has become less of an exploration and more of an abstract reflection that allows his sound and arrangements to take distinct and personal forms.
The cultural components he gathered along the journey have sunk below the harmonic structure and remain reassuring traces, signs of depth of experience and continuity of narrative, but can hardly be reconstructed as independent entities.
